Mine is usually 112/70-something. I was told that was normal. But sometimes I feel dizzy and weak. I felt this way yesterday while I had my bp measured. It was 104/64. Is this too low?
Someone told me to increase my sodium intake, but I don’t like to put salt on my food and I try to stay away from foods with preservatives in them.

110/64 isn’t too low. It’s on the low side, but not extreme.
Low BP is not "helped" by adding salt. You don’t need to add any salt to anything you eat if you eat any commercial foods–you’ll get enough sodium from almost all processed foods.
If you’re dizzy and weak, it’s probably some cause other than your blood pressure–and that cause could be causing the lower reading. You need to ask your doctor.
blood pressure is low when it is lower than 110 / 80.. it is too low when it is less than 100 / 60.. 104/64 is like the boundary of a low bp.. understand that sodium chloride (salt) is electrolyte in the body which governs fluid balance.. salt is more of a water retainer.. so it goes like fluid intake (drinks / foods) = fluid output (sweat, urine, stool).. less sodium decreases water retained from urine or sweat which in turn may lead to dehydration and low bp..=)
You should go for a blood test and ask for a red blood count. Your weakness could be an indication that you are not eating right food to increase your red blood cells which are mainly responsible for taking oxygen and food to your body cells. So take a blood test and eat the right food and you will be O.K.
Normal blood pressure is different in different people. For some people 112/70 may be normal, but for you it may be low. It definitely sounds like low blood pressure based on your dizziness and weakness.
I have low blood pressure and I manage it by eating lost of salt (I don’t like it either and I remember hearing that it was unhealthy, but that’s only if you have hight or normal blood pressure), staying out of heat (no hot showers, hot tubs, hot weather), wearing tight knee high socks to keep blood from pooling in my legs, and I take Rx Fludrocortisone.
Here are some ways that I have increased the salt in my diet:
-hard boiled egg with salt on it
-mashed potatoes with salt mixed in instead of butter
-V8
-Drinking ramen soup (without noodles) or chicken bullion
-eating canadian bacon (low fat, high salt), prosciutto, and other salty meats
-Drinking a ton of gatorade
If the problem persists, you may want to have few test done to see the cause of the low blood pressure. It can indicate other problems (but you would most likely get worse if this is the case). The best doctor to see would be an endocrinologist.
Good Luck!
