The biggest problem with having high blood pressure is eliminating salt in your diet. You should learn to read labels on everything you eat. Most canned soups have way too much salt in them for a healthy diet. So do a lot of those frozen dinners you buy at the grocery store.

A daily recommended allowance of sodium is 1500. That’s not a lot. About 1 heaping teaspoon of salt.

Eating fresh fruit and veggies will help a lot. And when you go out and eat, don’t salt your food ever. They put enough salt in their food to cover salt intake for 5 or 6 people for one day.

I have high blood pressure and I always let my family salt their own food at the table. I don’t usually add salt to anything I cook. I cook with other spices.

Cheerios and Oat Meal. I use them and for me it works. It takes time and dedication.

There aren’t any magic foods that will do it, it’s more of an approach to eating that includes less salt, more fruits and vegetables.

The DASH diet is a good way to get started.

Also, exercise is very important. The more you can do on your own, the less medication you may need to keep your numbers in line, and the fewer side effects you will experience.

    Good luck!
